It's that time of the year when you look forward to revoking the SORN, checking the tyres, topping up the fluids, polishing up the bodywork and start to ENJOY your classic vehicle.
This year make the White Rose Classic Tour on April 29th. your MUST DO event. Get your entry in and encourage your friends to do likewise for this early season run. This year's tour will be timed at an average of less than 30mph giving time to admire the views, photograph your car in a picturesque location or stop to inspect objects that might be of particular interest to you.
The 2012 tour starts from the Green Tree Hotel at Hatfield Woodhouse on the edge of the Humberhead Peatlands National Reserve. The entry fee of only £18.00 includes delicious cooked buffet breakfasts for you and your navigator.
The tour will be of approximately 100 gentle miles through the open countryside surrounding Thorne and Hatfield Moors.The route will be given in the traditional form of tulip diagrams with mileages and will be easy to follow. No navigational expertise will be needed. You will visit small market towns and villages around the Isle of Axholme and N.E.Lincolnshire before stopping for a break at the Yorkshire Waterways Museum on the outskirts of Goole Old town. www.waterwaysmuseum.org.uk
Resuming the tour after the lunch break, you will follow an easy route going west and then south back to Doncaster finding a few gentle gradients unlike this morning! You'll drive along some delightful country lanes, visiting many old villages and places of interest.The finish is back at the Green Tree Hotel for coffee and cake where you can relax, exchange opinions of the White Rose Classic Tour with old friends and new acquaintances, or simply make your way home. |
